Michael R. Sleister was born in Augusta, Georgia in 1953 and graduated from high school in 1971. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in 1975. In 1979 he graduated with honors with a psychology degree from the University of Georgia. In 1981 he graduated with a Masters in Public Administration with honors from the University of Georgia. Before entering the University of Georgia Law School in 1985, he held jobs in both the private and public sector. In 1988 he graduated in the top third of his class from the University of Georgia Law School and since that time he has been admitted to practice in all State and Federal Courts in the State of Georgia. Since 1992 he has practiced in the law firm of Lipscomb, Johnson, Sleister, Dailey and Smith in Cumming Georgia.
Michael R. Sleister is married and has three sons. He has been active in various community affairs including the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce, coaching his boys recreational basketball teams, and being on the Board of Trustees of the Forsyth County Public Library.
